I expected to find several tomato hornworms, because they are the usual culprits for damage like this and with it being so extensive, I just knew it was 3-4 of them. However, what I found instead was just one...that's right, one very fat and happy monstrous hornworm!
Wanna know why they are called hornworms? Look at that nasty point!
The dilemma I now faced was squishing this big guy. I don't exactly enjoy squishing bugs, but the little ones are at least quick and easy. I was having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with him, but he certainly couldn't live and eat my entire garden! I'll spare you details, but he is no longer a threat. No photos of that event. :)
Have a beautiful day!
Oh, my! Thanks ever so for sparing us the gory details! So far, we haven't had any hornworm problems, but after the first fruits, the maters are awfully small. >:\

Bugs are such a pain! We've gotten those bad boys before! It's like they could carry you off or something.

ReplyDeleteThis is the second post this week that I have read about these guys! and this is my first year to attempt growing anything but since I am not at home to care for them I have no idea whether I have the little er I mean Heimlich (bugs life) eating all of my tomatoes or not. I will have to check with my hubby! Thanks for the pics, at least I will know what I am looking for now ;)
